Our Church
The centennial anniversary of St. Patrick's parish is fast approaching in 2011. The Catholic presence in Wareham goes back much earlier. Our roots go back to 1865 when our founders bought a former Baptist Church here on High Street. That former church still survives as our parish center. The present church was built in 1939. It is designed in the colonial style and its simple Georgian architectural lines give it the appearance of the classic New England church. St. Anthony's Chapel in the Tremont section of West Wareham dates to the early Twentieth Century. It too was a former Protestant church. It is small, quaint and invokes the feel of a small country chapel.
As our centennial approaches, we will be celebrating the parish's legacy and history. We also are looking forward to conducting a self study so that we can evaluate our strengths and weakness. Then we can take action so that we can be even more faith to our call to be the light of Christ Jesus here in Wareham.

Our History
Wareham played a prominent role in the early days as the Catholic Church spread south of Boston. In 1830, Catholics in Wareham became a mission church of Sandwich under the pastoral care of Fr. Patrick Canavan. The first Roman Catholic Church building in Wareham was an abandoned Baptist Church located on High Street.

Get Involved
Our Catholic faith comes alive when we share it with others. When we use our gifts of time, talent, and treasure to help build up the Kingdom of God we are living our faith as God intends. God never created us to be "pew potatoes" God wants us to be active in our faith. It is never enough to just fulfill our religious obligations. We must be active in our faith.
St. Patrick's has many ways for you to get involved in parish life. We are always looking for more involvement in our Faith Formation, Outreach to the Home Bound, Social Justice, and Family Life programs. We are also looking for new and exciting ways to help you share your faith. These are some opportunities. Perhaps you would like to get involved with one of them. If you have new ideas about how we could expand our list of opportunities, please let us know. Get involved with your parish!

Welcome to the St. Patrick, Wareham website. On behalf of myself, Fr. Ron Floyd, and the St. Patrick’s Parish Catholic Community we are happy to have this opportunity to share our faith with you. We hope you find our website a helpful source of information about our parish and the Catholic faith.
St. Patrick’s is located in the Town of Wareham on the shores of Buzzard’s Bay in SouthCoast Massachusetts. Our main church is located in the center of Wareham and we also have St. Anthony’s Chapel in West Wareham. For over 100 years, St. Patrick’s has tried to be a hospitable community sharing the challenges and joys of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Catholic faith with our neighbors. Every time we gather, we pray to be renewed by the Holy Spirit to share God’s gifts of time, talent, and treasure with the world so that all can experience the abundance of life in Jesus Christ.
